Thinsulate Platinum – Technology + Design

Communication and design project aimed at presenting 3M Thinsulate Platinum technologies not only through a scientific perspective but also through a forward-looking creative vision. The project included concept development, art direction, photography, book design and exhibition booth design in Salt Lake City.
As part of the installation, we designed and produced a futuristic suit prototype featuring an illuminated interior that revealed the different types of Thinsulate Platinum insulation used in various areas of the garment, each selected according to specific performance features such as elasticity, thermal protection, breathability and protection from the elements.
The suit also integrated other patented 3M technologies, including transparent protective films, photochromic materials, and light-sensitive reflective elements, demonstrating how advanced materials can enhance both performance and design. Part of the project also involved a workshop with a group of students from the Politecnico di Milano, focused on exploring innovative product concepts using Thinsulate technology and encouraging new applications of the material in design.
The project was presented in an exhibition in Salt Lake City, highlighting the intersection of advanced materials, design experimentation, and future-oriented product concepts.
